A portrait of Christ which hung on this school’s wall since 1947 in the “Hall of Honor” has now been permanently removed. The school was sued by the ACLU, and the school buckled and settled out of court instead of standing up to the ACLU. The portrait is now permanently removed and the school will pay a $95,000 fine to the ACLU. That’s right, the school gets to pay and fund the very organization that sued them.
An Ohio school district has agreed to keep a portrait of Jesus Christ off school property and pay a $95,000 fine in the face of legal pressure from the American Civil Liberties Union.
The Jackson City School District, located in Jackson, reached a deal on Friday after the ACLU, along with the Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation, sued the district in February, citing “unconstitutional” actions and charging that students and visitors to the school “will continue to suffer permanent, severe and irreparable harm and injury,” according to the lawsuit.

This is why our freedoms are being taken away slowly day by day. Instead of standing up to the bullies, the school district (and many others) are cowering and letting them have their way. We must be vigilant and willing to stand up and fight once attacked. We will eventually lose the war if we continue to surrender each time a flaming arrow is shot into our territory.
However, all is not lost. We have this out of Liberal, Kansas:
the USD No. 480 school board voted unanimously to allow student-led prayer at all activities in the district.
Because it specifies that school officials do not initiate or lead the prayers, the action is intended to comply with federal law even as it makes prayer possible.
This is definitely encouraging, but I’m sure the ACLU and others are already working on their battle strategy. Hopefully the school district is doing the same.
