8 Year Old Removed from School Because She Looks Like a Boy
The grandparents and adoptive parents of an 8-year-old little girl have been told that she can no longer attend the Christian school she goes to unless she meets some conditions.
Did she bring a gun to school or make reference to a gun? No. Did she do anything violent or bully other children? No. Did she bring drugs or a knife to school? No.
Sunnie’s parents were told that she looks like a boy and that some students have been confused over whether she is a boy or a girl. (A simple solution to this problem would be for the confused students to be told that Sunnie is a girl.) Sunnie’s parents were told that unless her boyish appearance changed, that she could no longer attend this school–all in the name of God, of course.
Doris and Carroll Thompson are Sunnie’s grandparents.
They adopted and raised the little girl and took her out of Timberlake Christian School when they received the letter from the K-8 principal.
“You’re probably aware that Timberlake Christian School is a religious, Bible-believing institution providing education in a distinctly Christian environment,” the letter stated.
It goes on to say that students have been confused about whether Sunnie is a boy or a girl. It specifies that administrators can refuse enrollment for condoning sexual immorality, practicing a homosexual lifestyle or alternative gender identity. It even referenced specific Bible verses that affirm these beliefs.
“We believe that unless Sunnie as well as her family clearly understand that God has made her female, and her dress and behavior need to follow suit with her God-ordained identity, that TCS is not the best place for her future education,” the letter goes on.
The Thompsons said they have no desire to re-enroll Sunnie in the school.

Clearly, the idea of rigid, zero tolerance has entered the Christian schools. I can’t imagine how this must make this little girl feel and how this might permanently effect her feelings for God and Christianity.
I was a tomboy myself. I don’t remember ever being told that I looked like a boy, but at some times I had long hair and at others time short hair depending on what was the popular style. Anyone remember the Dorothy Hamill?
My number one playmate until 5th grade was the boy next door. I had Tonto, the Lone Ranger, Silver, and Scout. He had GI Joe and a Hot Wheels racetrack. If it was warm enough, we were outside. And my belief as a young child was that if he didn’t have to wear a shirt neither did I.
None of us were scarred. None of us turned out weird. None of us ended up with gender identity confusion. At the young age of eight and below, gender and anything to do with sex was the last thing on our mind. It wasn’t important. It didn’t matter. We just wanted to be kids, and the adults in our lives were happy to let us do just that.
School Officials Find Gun Ban Signs “Disturbing”
Illinois state law requires schools and other places that don’t allow guns on the premises to post a reminder to those entering the building. This is done by placing a 4″ X 6″ decal near the entrance with a picture of a gun with a red line through it. (People can’t read, so we have to post pictures instead.) This is driving the gun-hating liberals mad. They claim that even the image of a gun is “disturbing.”
School officials want the public to know that in compliance with state law (House Bill 0183), schools, churches, government agencies and liquor stores statewide will be posting 4-by-6-inch stickers reminding the public, particularly those with a concealed-carry license, that there are limits on where a gun can be carried.
While schools didn’t allow guns even before the concealed-carry law was passed, they still are required to display the reminder. Some officials are questioning the mandate, and some find the sticker image disturbing.
God help the government-schooled child that might draw an image that remotely looks like a gun, say the word gun, or point his finger in a way that might resemble a gun. What is disturbing is the way these children are treated and traumatized over innocent play.
“One of my biggest concerns as a principal is safety and security,” Tinley Park High School Principal Theresa Nolan said. “It is bothersome to have to post a sticker of a gun that says, ‘Hey, folks, leave your guns at home.’ ”
I find a lot of my daily chores “bothersome,” but I do them anyway.
“You can’t look at this (sticker) and not think about Sandy Hook,”
Actually, you can. I never once thought of Sandy Hook when I looked at this sticker. We need to remember that the only reason why mass shootings are allowed to happen is because no one stopped the shooter. Legally carrying a loaded gun is the most effective way to stop mass shooters.
The simple solution here is to homeschool your kids. If you choose, teach them how to handle a gun properly. Make it a part of your school. Most importantly, teach them the importance and the true meaning of the Second Amendment. And you can put whatever sticker you like at the entrance of your school!

ABC Takes Guns into Elementary School and Hides them Amongst Children’s Toys and Backpacks
In a report called Young Guns, Diane Sawyer and David Muir wanted to show the American people what happens when you leave unattended guns in children’s toys and backpacks at school. So, they broke several gun safety rules and federal law to do just that. Not only did they leave unattended guns in the toys and backpacks of children, all this happened at an elementary school!
First the teacher showed the children the Eddie Eagle video and taught a lesson. Then, the police came in and talked gun safety with the children.
Ignoring the number one gun safety rule (treat every gun as if it were loaded), the police came in two days later and hid unloaded guns amongst the children’s toys. Keep in mind that this all took place at an elementary school where it is in violation of federal law to carry a firearm. The teacher then ignores another very important gun safety rule (never leave guns unattended around children) and leaves the room.
The video below catches what happened when two boys found one of the guns. The first thing they both did was look right down the barrel of the gun.

This whole incident brings on a tidal wave of emotions for me. First of all, anger. I’m angry that the parents would agree to let their children go through this experiment. I can understand wanting to teach your kids a lesson about guns, but this isn’t the way to do it. Responsible, or maybe even irresponsible parents, don’t leave guns amongst children’s toys and backpacks. When children find guns in the home, it’s not because mom or dad left their .45 in the child’s toy box.
I’m angry that the teacher conducted this experiment and set the kids up. She knew the kids would fail. Surely these children have lost trust in her.
I’m angry at the police for bringing guns into the school and leaving them in the children’s toys for them to find. They ignored all kinds of laws and gun safety rules. Again, the people that are supposed to be looking out for these kids and that these children are supposed to respect and trust, have proven to be untrustworthy. Why would anyone expect the kids to follow the rules when the adults aren’t even following the rules?
I’m also angry at ABC and Diane Sawyer for putting on this whole escapade. Instead of reporting the news, she was making the news. And the news that she did report, she didn’t do truthfully.
Most of all, I feel sadness for these children. The lesson they’re going to learn is that their parents, teachers, and police officers set them up. They broke laws and rules to supposedly teach them a lesson. The lesson these children are going to go away with is that the people that are supposed to be looking out for you can’t always be trusted. Very, very sad.
I would hope that there would be serious consequences for such a stunt, but I doubt it. The teachers and police officers involved should be fired immediately. The parents need to apologize to their children for doing something so stupid. And I hope that America has enough sense to turn Diane Sawyer off. Sadly, I doubt that any of this will happen.

Thankfully, those that are home educators can properly teach their children gun safety. Responsible gun owners know that gun ownership is a lifestyle. Home educators know that responsible gun ownership can be taught (legally, I might add) in their school whether they are gun owners or not. What could be more fun than a field trip to the range?
