But there was this judge, you see, who ordered Jane into this rotten homeschooling environment, because he felt she needed a “more well-rounded education.” The judge thought her old school “had done a good job,” and it was great for Jane to “have that access,” and he has “no problems” with public education, but he felt homeschooling would be “a good complement and would make her stronger.”
So against the parent’s wishes, Jane is forced to associate with children she doesn’t like and placed in circumstances that threaten and disturb her worldview.
Yeah right. What a ridiculous scenario. No judge would ever order a public-schooled kid to be homeschooled.
I cannot imagine the outrage and media coverage such a ruling would receive. Can you imagine a judge ordering a public school child to attend a homeschool?
So, why is it when the reverse happens, there is no outrage. The event hardly even gets any notice at all by the media.
This was not a case of educational neglect. The children consistently tested two grade levels above their grade level. So why did the judge order the children to attend government school?
. . . the homeschooling their mother has provided over the last four years needs to be “challenged.”
The judge, when contacted by WND, explained his goal in ordering the children to register and attend a public school was to make sure they have a “more well-rounded education.”
“I thought Ms. Mills had done a good job [in homeschooling],” he said. “It was great for them to have that access, and [I had] no problems with homeschooling. I said public schooling would be a good complement.”
If this judge had no problem with homeschooling, then he wouldn’t have ordered the children to attend government school. Obviously, he doesn’t have a clue about homeschooling, or he’d already know that the children are more likely to receive a well-rounded education in a homeschool than at a government school.
How many cases have come in front of this judge in which the children were attending a government school and doing well? In how many of these cases did he order these children to attend a homeschool so they could receive a “more well-rounded education?” If he has not done so (and odds are he has not), then he is obviously biased.
Where is the outrage? Where does this stop? Will we next be told where our kids can work, what clothes they will wear, and what extra-curricular activities they can participate in? These are all matters to be determined by the parents, not a judge who probably will never even meet the children.
Wake up, America. Whether you homeschool or not, decisions like these can eventually effect you and your family. Your freedoms are being taken away, little by little.
